The "How Do Dinosaurs..." series by Jane Yolen is a favorite in our house. I got our first one when I was pregnant with our first child, which led to adding several to our collection. My son, Geddy, is 4 years old and is learning some hard lessons about friends that we all experience. Sometimes, friends can be mean!
What I love about this book is that it takes a sensitive topic, such as learning to properly socialize and KEEP friends, and makes it fun and easy for a child to understand. It begins by showing examples of POOR socializing, including mean names, pushing and more...
But ends with positive, friendly, experiences such as sharing cookies, apologizing and giving hugs. And can we talk about that artwork? I love it. My son likes to examine each page and seems to find new things to point out every time we read it.
I would absolutely recommend this book! My son loves it and we will read it to our daughter as well.
Happy Reading!
